Many Institutions and businesses from the cryptocurrency community are now hosting the whitepaper of Bitcoin.
This move is following legal threats from nChain Chief Scientist Craig Wright imposed against the nonprofit that has hosted crypto’s foundational papers so far.
“Recently, both of the Bitcoin.org and Bitcoincore.org received allegations of copyright violation of the Bitcoin whitepaper by lawyers representing Craig Steven Wright,” the nonprofit said.
Bitcoin was invented by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto, who is still an unknown person. Craig Wright has regularly made claims that he is Satoshi Nakamoto.
Apparently, in acknowledgment to the takedown notice, a flow of crypto firms have published the whitepaper on their websites. As of press time they include:
Square (The crypto arm of payments giant)
Chaincode Labs (Bitcoin development funder)
Paradigm (Crypto venture fund)
Coin Center (Policy think-tank)
Novi (Facebook stablecoin subsidiary)
NYDIG (Bitcoin financial services firm)
Casa (Self-custody app)
The document was also uploaded to Arweave, a platform for permanent file storing solution. It is also stored on the “uncensorable web” through the InterPlanetary File System (IFPS) and the Ethereum Name Service (ENS).
Apparently, Bitcoincore.org has taken down its representation of the Bitcoin whitepaper. However, The file is still visibly live on Bitcoin.org.
